VDL at IAA in Hanover
At the IAA in Hanover VDL Bus & Coach presented an interesting selection of coaches and line buses from the extensive VDL product range. Visitors seized the opportunity to take a test ride in the VDL Citea Electric to experience electric riding first-hand and to get a good impression of this extremely environmentally-friendly bus.
The VDL Citea Electric is ready for an environmentally-friendly future. This 12-metre long bus with flat floor is fully electric. From an environmental standpoint, and with a view to improved quality of life in cities, the VDL Citea Electric will undoubtedly play a major role in the public transport of the future. The ability to choose from various electric drives and battery packages ensures that the most ideal and optimal combination can be selected for every deployment area, without consequences for accessibility, interior layout or comfort. During a test drive, the ever-captivating experience of a purely electric bus ride was experienced first-hand.
VDL Citea LLE-120/255
The Citea LLE-120/255 is already a common sight in many German cities. More and more passenger transport companies are experiencing for themselves how lightweight construction produces fuel and cost savings, which also benefits the environment. In May of this year, for example, after completing an extensive two-year test phase, Berlin’s city transport company BVG Berlin ordered 236 Citeas LLE. And the success story continues…
VDL Citea SLFA-180/360
The articulated VDL Citea SLFA-180/360 bus complements the Citea family and thus the fleet of the cost-conscious operator active in the public transport sector. Like all members of the Citea family the SLFA, with its low consumption and lower maintenance costs, is a reliable, welcome ‘worker’ for everyday transportation needs.
VDL Futura FHD2-139/440
Modern design, the latest technology, optimum comfort and maximum safety – the VDL Futura combines all these attributes without compromise. This bestseller among the VDL coaches has long held 1st place when it comes to cost-effectiveness and efficiency. A disabled passenger version will be presented at the IAA. In addition to the new cassette lift above the driven axle, in the rearmost section this Futura features a toilet adapted to the travellers’ special needs and what is called a ‘disabled transporter’, which facilitates the mobility of passengers with a handicap. A disabled transporter consists of a rail system with a seat that allows the less mobile passenger to move within the bus. VDL Class 300 seats, a kitchen in the rear and Active Cruise Control for added safety are other features of this modern coach.
VDL Futura FMD2-129/330 – multifunctional
With its many deployment possibilities for long-distance travel and city and regional transport, the VDL Futura FMD2 is a non-stop profit generator and therefore ideal for every passenger transport company. The easy entry and egress thanks to the floor height of 1,250 mm, the optional cassette lift available in combination with a wide middle door, and the amazingly large luggage compartment make the Futura FMD2 suitable for both regular and handicapped transport. The Futura FMD2 at the VDL Bus & Coach stand will have 53+1+1 seating and a toilet.
VDL Synergy SDD-141/510
Among the double-deckers the VDL Synergy is the economical ‘Space Cruiser’ for large groups. It features loads of space both on the ground level and upper deck as well as interior arrangement options tailored to daily use for either public transport or tours. The Synergy is an asset in every operator’s fleet. The vehicle to be presented at the IAA has two wheelchair spaces.
VDL MidCity
For public transport, but also as a wheelchair bus, the MidCity with low-floor construction and many build options is an especially good choice. The MidCity shown in Hanover was a line bus with Euro 6 engine and 13+4+1 seating.
VDL MidEuro
At the 65th IAA, the VDL MidEuro will show its most luxurious face. Leather seats, TFT displays and many other luxurious details indulge the 18 passengers on board. But even as a small school bus or neighbourhood bus this all-rounder leaves nothing to be desired.
