During a festive ceremony at the Sheraton Sofia Hotel Balkan, the competent jury of the Press Auto Club bestowed its annual Car of the Year 2015 prizes. The prize in the category of Environmentally Friendly Car of the Year was taken by the Golf TGI with a factory installation on natural gas.
Golf TGI is the first car in the brand’s family bearing the new functional designation TGI. It unites in itself all the new engines of the manufacturer working on natural gas, primarily with direct injection and on the principle of forced filling. The new Golf TGI achieves remarkable results such as: combined consumption of natural gas of just 3.5 kgs per 100 kms of distance travelled, Euro 6 emissions class, energy class А+, only 94 grs/km of СО2 emissions, up to 400 kms of travel range with only one filling with natural gas, and approximately up to 950 kms in addition using gasolene, and a number of others.
After the debut of the first factory made cars on natural gas from the brand in 2006 in Bulgaria, Volkswagen has made so far over 1,800 cars on methane (from the two units of the brand together with the light cargo section) in our country. This makes the company a leading supplier in the country of cars that are driven using alternative power sources, these being a priority for the transport sector and for the economy as a whole.
