Daily Tourys from Iveco, winner of the Minibus of the Year 2017 award
Tom Terjesen, jury president for this award, which is included within the catalogue of the European International Bus & Coach of the Year Awards, presented the prize during the opening day of FIAA 2016, the International Bus and Coach Trade Fair, organised by IFEMA, and which ends today on Friday 26 May at Feria de Madrid
The Daily Tourys model of Iveco has won the first edition of the Minibus of the Year Award, as announced Tuesday, 23 May, on the opening day of the International Bus and Coach Trade Fair (FIAA), which is organised by IFEMA and ends on Friday 26 May at Feria de Madrid.
Tom Terjesen, jury president for this award, which is included within the catalogue of the European International Bus & Coach of the Year Awards, was entrusted with announcing the name of the winner of this prize, which fills a gap that existed up until now in Europe: an award for minibuses, microbuses and midibuses designed for professional passenger transport. During his intervention he thanked Miguel Sáez, director of the magazine Autobuses & Autocares and Spanish member of the International Jury, for his work and commitment in the organisation of this award.
On his part, Miguel Sáez was entrusted with presenting the award, which Sylvain Blaise, Vice-president of Iveco Global Bus, collected. Blaise shared this achievement with the entire Iveco family, as well as with its customers, in that, in his words, “this award recognises the quality of a vehicle that has been developed in accordance with the requirements and needs of our customers”.
Miguel Aguilar, director of FIAA, also thanked Autobuses & Autocares and its director for this initiative, which was possible thanks to an agreement with IFEMA, and which intends to support a vehicle the quality of which is now certified by an international jury, something that will create greater customer confidence.
Clemente González Soler, president of the Executive Committee of Ifema, also stressed the implication of Autobuses & Autocares and Miguel Sáez in the organisation of this award, the objective of which is “to fill a gap that existed in Europe up until now, as well as to promote and give greater visibility to the minibus segment, which has a high growth potential”. He also congratulated the rest of the finalists, which included, besides the Daily Tourys of Iveco, the Spica of Car-Bus.net, Next L7 of Indcar, In Vip of Integralia, Nora of Ferqui, MD7 of Temsa and the Voyager G7 of Unvi.
All these vehicles have endured demanding tests, which have been assessed over several days by an International Jury, tests baptised with the name of Minibus Euro Test, and which have included performance tests in a real circuit viewed from both the driver’s and the passenger’s perspective
