On 15 January 2015, The IRU launched the call for candidates for the 7th annual Smart Awards. The aim of these awards is to showcase the best of what our industry does in tune with the objectives of the Smart Move campaign to double the use of buses and coaches by the year 2025. Categories are as follows:
The Coach Tourism Innovation Award is given to transport companies whose practices lead to a greater use of group tourism by coach, through high quality and cost-effective innovative projects and services.
The Bus Excellence Award rewards transport companies which promote a greater use of bus and coach in regular urban and inter-urban transport, through high quality and cost-effective innovative projects.
The City Trophy Award rewards municipal authorities that implement policies favouring group tourism by coach. Cities that invest in good facilities for coaches will reap economic rewards, while those that fail to do so will limit their income from tourism.
Candidates must submit their application dossiers to the IRU Permanent Delegation to the EU by e-mail to sonila.metushi@iru.org, by mail, or by fax at +32-2-743 25 99, by 15 June 2015 at the latest, specifying for which Smart Award they wish to be considered.
