Six Irizar buses inaugurate France’s first 100% electric line
On June 06, the Régie des Transports de Marseille (RTM) inaugurated the first 100% electric line in the city of Marseilles, France.
In addition to personnel representing Irizar, the act was attended by the mayor of Marseilles, Mr. Gaudin, the president of the Administrative Council, Mr. Tomasin and the Director of RTM and his, Mr. Rebout and Mr. Augier respectively.
The six buses began serving Marseille’s iconic 82 line, which runs between la Canebière and Euromed (stopping at the headquarters of MPM and the Métropole, the Old Port, MuCEM and the new business district of Euroméditerranée).
These six Irizar I2e buses have a standard configuration, just like the rest of the vehicles that comprise the RTM fleet. The buses incorporate a continuous low-floor configuration with two double doors and an electric access ramp at the central door. The interior layout includes a total capacity of 77, with 27 seated, one person with reduced mobility (PRM), and 51 people standing. Includes 16 So-Nickel batteries.
The incorporation of these six vehicles to the RTM fleet is a result of the good experience and results obtained regarding the technical capacities and performance of the installation and the optimum level of comfort obtained for the driver and passengers during the tests conducted by the Marseilles company for two months in 2015.
Also Irizar has installed an intelligent system in depots, which optimizes the process of charging the six buses.

The commissioning of these buses is a historic event and is a result of the commitment and the search for solutions that RTM began in 2006 for the purpose of offering sustainable mobility and quality of life solutions to its citizens as well as reliable pioneering technologies focussed on reducing the impact of transportation on the environment and on noise emissions as well as provide comfort to the drivers and passengers.
This is a true revolution. A commitment has been made to lower noise pollution and contamination. We will be able to operate in many other lines. I want to highlight that we are already transporting 63% of the people of Marseilles in a manner that is gentle and electric thanks to the tram and the underground. The Irizar i2e 100% electric bus by Irizar Group

Compared to a conventional combustion bus, around 800Tons of CO2 are prevented from being emitted during its entire service life.
