VDL Futuras for FIS Nordic World Ski Championships

16 new VDL Futuras will be put in service during the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, to be held in Falun, Sweden, from 18 February to 1 March 2015. VDL Bus & Coach has the privilege of supplying these coaches especially for this event. Sambus, an association of Swedish passenger transport companies, has been appointed as the

Futura FHD2-131 FIS in Falun Futuras FIS in Falun

and has coordinated the transportation with Futuras. In total 8 coach operators from Sweden and Finland, including several Sambus members, will make their Futuras available for transporting visitors to and from various airports, cities and hotels. After the event the 16 Futuras will join the fleets of the various coach operators.

VDL Futura
The VDL Futura is an efficient, highly cost-effective coach with an attractive design and a high level of passenger comfort. One aspect that makes the Futura unique is its low net weight, which among other things has a very favourable impact on fuel economy and contributes significantly to optimum ‘Profit of Ownership’. The Futuras to be deployed for transportation during the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships range in length from the 2-axle 12.2-metre model to the 3-axle 13.9-metre model. All the Futuras feature special lettering.

Sambus AB
Sambus AB consists of 26 private bus and coach companies. All participating companies are members of the Swedish Bus and Coach Federation (BR). The strength of Sambus stems from the combination of knowledge, skills and resources. Working together allows the member companies to take advantage of the same benefits enjoyed by large companies, in connection with the purchase of fuel and parts and for schooling, training, etc. Additionally, in this manner the participating bus and coach companies are able to ensure that local knowledge is retained and position themselves to quickly and effectively respond to changing circumstances. The total vehicle fleet consists of around 500 buses / coaches. Sambus mainly focuses on providing passenger transport services in central Sweden.
