Italian carrier Trieste Trasporti has inaugurated in mid-May a new electric bus charging station at its Broletto depot in Trieste.

According to information reported by Italian trade media and our sister platform Autobusweb, Trieste Trasporti plans to purchase 137 battery-electric buses by 2030. The target represents more than half of the company’s total fleet.

The new facility includes 12 charging positions dedicated to electric buses, alongside two additional charging points located in the adjacent Esercito building.

The charging station forms part of the operator’s broader fleet electrification strategy and infrastructure development programme.

At present, 25 electric buses are operating on the urban network in Trieste. A further 15 vehicles are expected to enter service by September 2026, for an investment of over 24 million euros.

According to Italian trade media and our sister platform Autobusweb, Trieste Trasporti also launched a tender for electric buses in February 2026.

The operator’s charging infrastructure is expected to expand in parallel with fleet growth. A further structural intervention is scheduled to begin at the end of May at the San Marco depot, located in via Caduti sul Lavoro. Completion of the works is planned for 2028.
