Bus companies in Switzerland and Austria are investing in vehicles from Setra’s new TopClass 500 and ComfortClass 500 generation of touring coaches. For example, “A.N.K. Tours AG” from Muttenz near Basel has added a Setra TopClass 500 touring coach to its fleet. For managing director Hanspeter Niklaus, the three-axle bus is his firm’s very first Setra touring coach – and also its new flagship: “I’m sure that this comfortably equipped top-of-the-line vehicle will enable us to attract even more customers to our tours.”
The bus itself is the best means of publicity. A glance into the elegantly designed interior shows that the S 516 HDH more than lives up to the company’s motto “Come touring with us – reliably and in comfort”. The luxury bus is fitted out with 46 Voyage Plus leather/fabric seats and an exclusive lounge with table. Above the centre aisle, the large Setra TopSky panoramic glass roof affords a unique view of sun, moon and stars. The vehicle is powered by a fuel-efficient and, with 350 kW, very powerful Euro VI OM 471 engine.
Managing director Hanspeter Niklaus is long familiar with what Setra has to offer: “As a professional bus driver, I got to know the benefits of Setra buses many years ago.” A.N.K Tours AG offers day and holiday tours throughout the whole of Europe as well as tours to wine-making areas. At the request of customers, it also organises transfers to sports or school recreational events.
“Albus Salzkraft GmbH & Co. KG” from Salzburg is another operator that will from now on be offering an S 517 HDH on its tours. The three-axle bus from the TopClass 500 series, which was launched in 2013, is the first Setra coach to join the fleet of the company, which belongs to the Dr. Richard Group. Albus Salzkraft will use the comfortable Setra touring coach exclusively in cooperation with international tour operators. Managing director Hermann Häckl: “We know from our many years of exclusive cooperation with renowned tour operators that many jobs depend on offering a top-class product. With our new touring coach from Setra, we are a step ahead in every respect.” The S 517 HDH offers 55 passengers comfortable, relaxing Setra Voyage Plus seats with leather top parts. The three-axle vehicle also comes with the latest safety systems on board. These include adaptive cruise control with Emergency Braking Assist (ABA2), which also responds to stationary obstacles.
k&K Busreisen takes on TopClass 500 and ComfortClass 500
“k&k Busreisen GmbH” from Hornstein in Austria is another operator placing its faith in vehicles from the new generation of Setra touring coaches. A TopClass 500 and a ComfortClass 500 bus simultaneously joined their fleet.”Taking simultaneous delivery of a vehicle from both model series gives us two reasons to be happy,” says managing director Gerald Kutsenits, who brought some 50 passengers-cum-guests with him to the ceremonial unveiling at the Setra Customer Centre in Neu-Ulm.
The S 517 HDH from the TopClass 500 series accommodates 54 seated passengers, while the S 516 HD from Setra’s ComfortClass 500 series is fitted out with 49 Setra Voyage Plus seats. Gerald Kutsenits, who runs the company together with his brother Stefan jun., sets high standards in terms of comfort and safety: “In addition to roomy 4-star spacing between seats, our customers can also rest assured that we have every driver assistance system available from Setra on board.”
