The delivery of 15 FloatMAX glass inloaders from Faymonville to the international transport company
Lannutti was quite a spectacle. It was a part of several large orders closed between the two successful
companies this year.
Some vehicles from this extensive total package now began their journey to the respective depot.
Accordingly, 15 drivers gathered at the Faymonville factory in Büllingen (Belgium) and initially
received special instruction on handling the new FloatMAX “SuperLight” generation. The
explanations were of both a theoretical and a practical nature, with an explanatory film and handson
training on the semi-trailer itself. The contents, for example, included observation of the fifthwheel
height or the various settings of the load securing system. Subsequently, a stately green
convoy of FloatMAX glass loaders from Faymonville took to the road. Green wherever one looked.
The finished vehicles belonged to the new, revised FloatMAX generation. The characteristics are a
noticeable increase in stability and life span and at the same time a reduction in the unladen weight
and an improvement in the load distribution, resulting in the noticeable increase in the loading
volume.
For instance, the weight of the “SuperLight” has been knocked down to 6,450 kilos thanks to some
technical differentiations (such as doing without the front hub swings).
The reduction in weight was achieved by the painstaking search for weight savings, which also took
place in co-operation with the suppliers. The declared target weight was reached by using fewer, but
more stable components and by the justifiable omission of a spare wheel, side cladding or central
lubrication.
A “close relative” of the “SuperLight” is the “Light” model, which weighs around 6,600 kilos including
front hydraulic hub swings. With the “economy” class Faymonville wants above all to serve markets
with poorer road infrastructures. A more robust vehicle with no frills and an empty weight of 7,100
kilos offers the best prospects for this.
Safety is also the top priority with the glass inloaders from Faymonville. The load securing system of
the FloatMAX inloaders has been certified by the TÜV Rhineland in accordance with the VDI directive
2700.
Lannutti is one of Faymonville’s most faithful partners and the companies have co-operated for over
20 years. The experienced company values the targeted weight optimisation and at the same time the
increased loading volume of this new product generation. When it comes to the transport of glass,
there’s no way past the Belgian semi-trailer manufacturer Faymonville. The company has been coming
up with technically mature and pragmatic solutions for transport optimisation for many years.
