Since early August 2015, Italian customer SAF Autoservizi F.V.G. S.p.A., part of the Arriva Group, has 7 new VDL Synergys in service. The double-deckers are used for intercity service in the Friuli-Venezia-Giulia region of north-eastern Italy. This order brings the number of Synergys in the SAF fleet to 23. SAF Autoservizi again chose the VDL double-decker due to the large passenger capacity, good fuel economy and low operating cost of the product.
Synergys
The double-deckers for SAF Autoservizi are 13 metres long and can accommodate 82 seated and 16 standing passengers, for a total of 98. The large passenger capacity is mainly possible due to the low kerb weight of the vehicle. These Synergys for SAF also feature a wheelchair space and a wheelchair lift, making the bus a convenient option for the disabled passenger.
