Danish Umove A/S orders 55 VDL Citeas LLE

Danish company Umove A/S, a young, rapidly growing passenger transport company, has
placed an order for 55 VDL Citeas LLE.

VDL Bus & Coach will also provide maintenance and
repair of the buses during the contract period. The buses will be put in service in the Danish
capital Copenhagen (40 units) and the Danish city Helsingør (15 units) starting in December
2015.
Discussing this latest purchase, Johnny Hansen, CEO of Umove A/S, said “Customers are
very pleased with the quality of our service, and with the new lightweight Citeas we can
deliver an even higher quality level. Copenhagen is one of the most sustainable cities in the
world. The economic fuel consumption and low emissions of the buses comply with the
strict Danish requirements.”
For Anita Laursen, CEO of VDL Bus & Coach Danmark A/S, this is the largest order since
she joined the company in January 2015. “We are particularly delighted with our new
collaboration with Umove, not least because we will also be responsible for the
maintenance and repair of the vehicles,” she said. “The Danish team has recently been
working hard to broaden brand awareness of VDL and strengthen the company’s after sales
position. This order is confirmation that we are on the right track.”
VDL Citea LLE
The Citea LLE is a low-entry bus based on an innovative, lightweight concept, specially designed for
the demanding conditions of city and regional transport. The sophisticated construction method results
in a remarkably low unladen weight, the main benefits of which are significantly lower fuel consumption
compared to conventional buses, resulting in considerably reduced emissions of environmental
pollutants. The accessibility for service activities has been optimized, so work can be performed more
easily and efficiently. This means lower operational costs. The low floor construction at the entry and
exit doors provides optimal accessibility for wheelchair users and passengers with baby buggies. This
accessibility is further enhanced by the lack of any floor height changes at the entry and exit.
The 15 Citeas for Helsingør have been built with a 1-2-0 door configuration, a 38+3 seating
arrangement and space for 40 standing passengers.

The 40 Citeas for Copenhagen have a 2-2-1 door
configuration, a 33+3 seating arrangement and also have space for 40 standing passengers.
Helsingør has an estimated 46,000 residents and the city is visited by more than a million tourists per
year. Copenhagen, Denmark’s capital, has over a million residents. The bus is an important means of
transport, and Copenhagen places high demands on quality and comfort.
